Letterpress I
The assignment was to design a postcard using the theme of lies. I based this piece off of a line from From First To Last's "Secrets Don't Make Friends." Also, the line "it's all just fiction" (the impression on the front - it's easier to see if you tilt your screen back) is from Bullet For My Valentine's "Suffocating Under Words of Sorrow."
I used both a C&P and Golding letterpress for this project. Some people feel like this is an obsolete art form since the advent of computers. Can printers make impressions yet? No. And they also can't mimic ink as it fades.
I actually sent one of these to my parents in the mail. =]
Type faces used:
- Masterman 48pt ("stars" and impression)
- Caslon 14pt (everything else)
- the star is a printer's cut
